POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary objective of the Nursing Supervisor is to oversee the daily nursing operations of the OMHC Health Center during designated hours. This oversight must align with existing federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines that govern our facility, ensuring that the highest quality of care is consistently delivered.
The Nursing Supervisor is entrusted with the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for executing their designated tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Duties:
Assist the Director of Nursing in managing the daily nursing operations in compliance with current regulations and guidelines governing long-term care facilities. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures that direct the nursing service department's daily functions. Regularly submit reports and recommendations to the Director regarding the nursing service department's operations.
Engage in the development and implementation of strategies to coordinate nursing services with other resident services, ensuring a seamless continuum of care.
Participate in the development and execution of the OMHC Health Center's Performance Improvement Program for the nursing service department.
Conduct regular meetings with nursing and support staff to facilitate smooth operations and address any operational challenges.
Nursing Care Functions:
Inform all care team members of new admissions, ensuring prompt service and care delivery. Greet newly admitted residents within a timely manner and make rounds with physicians as necessary.
Monitor residents at increased risk and ensure that nursing care is provided in accordance with established care plans.
Review nursing documentation to ensure it accurately reflects the care provided and the residents' responses.
Staff Development:
Lead ongoing training initiatives for all team members to ensure they are well-informed about nursing service protocols and practices. Participate in continuing education programs to stay updated on industry changes and maintain licensure.
Safety and Compliance:
Assist in establishing safety standards for the nursing service department and ensure compliance with infection control protocols. Monitor team members to ensure adherence to safety regulations and proper use of equipment.
Qualifications:
Must possess training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices. A Registered Nurse with an active, unencumbered license is preferred, although a Licensed Practical Nurse with a current license may also be considered.
Effective communication skills in English, along with the ability to make independent decisions, are essential. Candidates should demonstrate leadership abilities and a commitment to providing quality care.
Proficiency in using technology within a clinical environment is required.
