Job Summary

The Human Resources Assistant will provide support to the HR team in delivering a range of professional-level human resource services. This includes assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and retention programs, as well as promoting effective communication within the organization and employee understanding of programs and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure applicants are cleared through Employee Health Services, Security, HR, and our background check vendor prior to beginning employment.
  • Assist the HR team in carrying out various programs and procedures for all AMC employees.
  • Assist in the standardization and consistency of all policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and track the performance appraisal process (APRs) and audit forms for completeness and compliance with AMHS policy.
  • Monitor and track licensure requirements for credentialed staff.
  • Assist with new employee orientation, new manager orientation, and physician orientation.
  • Process all aspects of NYSDOL unemployment claims and track data for quarterly/year-end reporting.
  • Assist the HR Managers with the Medical Accommodation Request process.
  • Support recruitment initiatives, including tracking pre-employment requirements and clearances.
  • Participate in departmental staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
  • Meet regularly with the team to share information and understand concerns.
  • Provide back-up coverage as needed for other employees within HR.
Requirements
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Some HR-related experience preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of principles and practices of human resources preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  • Works collaboratively and cooperatively with all members of Human Resources.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships and communications with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute hourly, daily rates, ratios, and percent's.
  • Ability to be honest, punctual, and to perform the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by AMHS and the tenets of the profession.
  • Ability to look for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to identify problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Willingness to make decisions within the scope of their authority, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, and make timely decisions.
Work Environment

This role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Medical Center, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes.

Workforce members are expected to ensure that access to information is based on a 'need to know' and is the minimum necessary to properly perform assigned duties. Use or disclosure shall not exceed the minimum amount of information needed to accomplish an intended purpose. Reasonable efforts, consistent with Albany Med Center policies and standards, shall be made to ensure that information is adequately protected from unauthorized access and modification.
