Nursing Unit Supervisor

SIGN-ON BONUS: up to $7,500

STARTING RATE: Salary- $74,880 - $79,040 (depending upon experience)

SHIFT: Full-Time Days , 8am - 4:30pm, WEEKENDS AND EVENINGS NEEDED AS OPERATIONALLY NECESSARY

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Nursing Unit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing our subacute and long-term care units, evaluating residents, and guiding staff as necessary. This role involves managing the nursing unit and ensuring the highest quality of patient care is delivered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Exhibits knowledge of age-specific developmental factors pertinent to adult and geriatric populations in the planning and delivery of care.
  • Demonstrates the skills and techniques required to care for residents with diverse needs, including therapeutic, neuro and dementia care, dialysis, IV therapy, infectious diseases, wound care, and end-of-life care, when applicable.
  • Ensures a thorough nursing evaluation of a resident's physical, emotional, and mental status is completed upon admission/re-admission and as needed, along with appropriate follow-up.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between residents and their families.
  • Addresses and mitigates concerns raised by family members.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and modification of patient care plans as necessary.
  • Supervises nursing staff, nursing rehabilitation assistants, certified nursing assistants, and unit clerks (if applicable), conducting annual and probationary evaluations.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulatory standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing, Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians to plan and maintain resident care.
  • Completes admission and discharge assessments.
  • Oversees and audits modifications made to care plans.
  • Provides hands-on care and medication distribution as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid NYS Registered Nursing License
  • Minimum: 1-year experience as an RN in a long-term care environment.
  • Preferred: 3-5 years as an RN in a long-term care setting with supervisory experience.
  • Education: Minimum: Associates Degree Preferred: Bachelor Degree.

  • Exhibits excellent communication skills, coordinating activities with other departments to ensure residents feel safe and empowered. Keeps family members informed about resident progress.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service by collaborating with personnel and interdisciplinary teams, providing assistance and support to all team members.
  • Identifies actual and potential problems, devising action plans for resolution and measuring outcomes to inform future actions.
  • Maintains high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness while performing tasks.
  • Possesses physical endurance for frequent activity; capable of lifting a minimum of 20 pounds.
