Emergency Care Technician - Fulltime Nights

Role Overview: As an Emergency Care Technician, you will engage in essential patient support activities, including basic medical care, phlebotomy, and EKG monitoring. You will also address the emotional and psychological needs of patients while assisting with various operational tasks within the unit.

Primary Duties:
  • Accurately and promptly collect patient data.
  • Identify changes in patient conditions and report them without delay.
  • Adhere to care plans and suggest modifications to accommodate patient needs.
  • Deliver care that prioritizes the patient's health and comfort.
  • Contribute to shift reports as part of a collaborative team effort.
  • Document all data collection, tasks performed, and patient responses with precision.
  • Immediately report any abnormal findings.
  • Conduct blood glucose monitoring and inform nursing staff of results.
  • Monitor patients receiving blood transfusions and those on fall precautions.
  • Provide interventions within your scope of practice, including dressing changes, vital signs, and assistance with daily living activities.
  • Apply and manage monitoring equipment as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing patients for medical procedures.
  • Support patient transportation within the facility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various patient categories, including urgent and non-urgent cases.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of supplies for the unit.
  • Utilize communication systems effectively (pagers, call systems, telephones).
  • Report any identified issues to the Clinical Supervisor or Manager.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient records is upheld.
  • Input patient transfers and discharges into the system promptly.
  • Maintain universal chart order.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

Experience: At least six months of experience in a direct patient care role is required.

Certifications: BLS certification and current CNA, EMT-B, or equivalent nursing assistant certification are required upon hire. Completion of a basic arrhythmia course and CPI Advanced training during orientation is also necessary.

Skills: Strong clerical, analytical, and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in typing and familiarity with computer programs and clerical tasks is expected.
