As an Industrial Hygienist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and students by evaluating and controlling workplace health hazards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate exposures to various workplace health hazards, including airborne contaminants, noise, temperature extremes, and ergonomic stressors.
  • Identify potential health concerns and complete industrial hygiene sampling to quantify exposures.
  • Develop and implement recommendations to control health hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the University's Respiratory Protection Program, providing implementation guidance and developing necessary training materials and tools.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive approach to the management of specific substances, including lead, silica, formaldehyde, cadmium, and carcinogens.
  • Review construction and modification plans for ventilation systems, gas monitoring systems, and other installations designed to control potential health exposures.
  • Assess program metrics to identify new performance goals and training opportunities.
  • Manage data associated with assigned programs and ensure that records are maintained in accordance with regulatory and University requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related discipline plus six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of industrial hygiene practices, knowledge of occupational safety and environmental protection principles and regulations, and demonstrated experience communicating technical information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to achieve medical clearance and wear respiratory protection.

Penn State University offers a competitive salary range of $86,000 to $129,500, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
