Job Title: Training and Development Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Training and Development Assistant to join our team at the HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of training programs for staff members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of training programs, including new employee orientation, refresher training, and continuing education.
  • Conduct facility training, including new employee orientation, refresher training, and continuing education, using approved training curriculum and procedures.
  • Teach PMAB, CPR, ANE, and Defensive Driving courses.
  • Manage employee training record data, including posting completed training into PeopleSoft Training Information Management System (TIMS), running training data reports, and entering employee training assignments.
  • Perform complex file management, including managing incoming paperwork, filing, copying, and storage.
  • Assist in the development of curriculum and preparation of other training materials related to staff training and development.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of training procedures and techniques, adult education principles, practices, and techniques, group process, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations.
  • Demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule and communicate with courtesy, professionalism, and compassion.
  • Ability to teach adults, handle multiple projects, and use Windows-based programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to work both within a team environment and independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as a platform trainer or teaching experience, curriculum development.
  • Valid Texas driver's license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date.
