Job Summary

As a Laboratory Technical Specialist at University Hospitals Health System, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of laboratory testing. This position requires a strong technical background and excellent leadership skills to provide guidance and direction to laboratory employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure quality control and quality assurance programs are in place and maintained throughout the testing process.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to develop and implement policies and procedures that meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct scheduled monitoring and audits to review and evaluate regulatory compliance gaps and deviations.
  • Escalate any gaps to medical and CLIA directors in a timely fashion with suggestions for process improvement.
  • Monitor and improve compliance to accreditation and regulatory checklist items.
  • Participate in assay validation design and write-ups, and assist in the development and implementation of workflows.
  • Engage in continuous process and service improvement, and design recommendations to improve operational efficiency and accuracy of results.
  • Monitor workload and identify capacity constraints, and execute plans to smooth out variations.
  • Assist with laboratory support functions, including supply inventory and ordering, and alternate suppliers.
  • Organize proficiency testing and competency assessments, and coordinate departmental education programs.
  • Prepare work schedules, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong technical background and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and quality control measures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
