Job SummaryAs a Cytotechnologist at King's Daughters, you will play a critical role in detecting and diagnosing diseases by analyzing body fluids and tissues. Your expertise will help our medical team provide accurate and timely diagnoses, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Assign accession numbers to gynecologic specimens and enter data into our computer system
Stain and cover gynecological and non-gynecological slides, maintaining high-quality results
Prepare and maintain Saccomanno Cytology Fixative and graded alcohols as needed
Document staining quality control and maintain records
Perform STAT testing and respond to patient inquiries regarding test results
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to strict laboratory protocols
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Cytotechnology Science
ASCP Cytotechnologist certification or equivalent
Working Environment
This role operates in a professional medical laboratory setting, with regular exposure to blood and body fluids, and occasional exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation. The noise level is moderate, and you will be required to communicate effectively with physicians and other care team members.
Physical Demands
This position requires occasional standing or sitting, frequent walking and movement, and regular use of fine motor skills to handle instruments and devices. You will also need to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients, and have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
