Position Title: Senior Project Manager (SPM)

Reports to: Director

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee multiple project teams, ensuring effective management and planning to meet project objectives.
  • Engage in business development activities and nurture relationships with existing clients.
  • Provide strategic guidance to project managers to align with project goals.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to define project objectives, allocate resources, estimate budgets, and establish timelines.
  • Set and manage project expectations while delegating tasks and monitoring deliverables.
  • Track project performance, facilitating team meetings to address progress and resolve issues.
  • Deliver status updates on project milestones, deliverables, risks, and interdepartmental communications.
  • Maintain client communication to clarify project goals and ensure alignment with their specifications.
  • Evaluate project success and team performance.
  • Provide clear guidance on tasks, expectations, and deadlines.
  • Manage contracts, including change orders and additional services.
  • Oversee project financials, including billing and budget management.
  • Ensure quality control throughout project execution and address any quality issues.
  • Assist in conflict resolution, negotiation, or litigation as necessary.
  • Develop and train project teams to enhance their skills and establish best practices.
  • Balance staffing and workload through collaboration with project management teams.
  • Promote a culture of learning and process improvement within the organization.
  • Work with People Operations to create onboarding and training programs.
  • Mentor and supervise project managers, including conducting performance evaluations.
  • Provide leadership to project teams, motivating members to achieve project goals.
  • Model the company culture and instill departmental values.
  • Ensure timely completion of personal and team timecards.
  • Participate in project meetings, which may occur outside of regular hours.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
  • Achieve a billable utilization rate of 50-60%.
  • Manage projects exceeding $1.8M and supervise a team of 9+ members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or a related Engineering field is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer License is required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in managing land development projects is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Pipe Networks.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills, capable of influencing at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively and analytically in problem-solving environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of project and program management principles.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with business leaders.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Interpersonal skills to facilitate performance enhancement in cross-functional teams.
  • A valid Driver's license and automobile insurance are preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Normal hearing range is required.
  • Prolonged sitting with occasional bending and reaching is necessary.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and calculator is essential.
  • Noise levels may vary between office and field environments.
  • Ability to travel to job sites for extended periods.
