Position Overview

This entry-level role involves conducting calibration and preventive maintenance (PM) on weighing and wrapping machinery independently, within the designated Business Area. The technician will often rely on resources such as technical support, mentors, or training materials to complete tasks. Assistance may be required for installations, projects, or repairs, but independent performance in these areas is not expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute PC networking and software configurations.
  • Conduct calibrations and preventive maintenance in accordance with company procedures and client specifications.
  • Regularly update and maintain the integrity of the service database.
  • Collaborate with the Scheduling Analyst and Service Support Team as needed.
  • Meet assigned targets while managing expenses effectively.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is serviced and maintained according to fleet policies.
  • Proactively promote and sell services and products, submitting sales leads as appropriate.
  • Maintain inventory levels as directed by the SBU and ensure accuracy in stock management.
  • Achieve productivity and other assigned KPIs.
  • Address initial customer concerns and assist in resolving invoicing discrepancies when necessary.
  • Adhere to all company and customer safety and quality standards.
  • Work to meet customer uptime requirements and complete all assignments punctually.
  • Accurately complete and submit daily paperwork via company-issued laptop.
  • Foster professional relationships with customers, sales teams, technicians, and management.
  • Record timekeeping accurately and ensure timely entry of activities.
  • Provide precise problem analysis to senior technical personnel when escalation is needed.
  • Encourage a collaborative atmosphere with field and service support colleagues.
  • Comply with the Company Fleet policy.
  • Timely submission of Weights & Measures documentation to state or county authorities.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support the customer base.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or GED, or 5 years of relevant experience in Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Technology, or Computer Science, or equivalent technical support experience.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree (AA) in a technical field from a two-year college.
  • Customer-facing or field service experience is preferred; commercial experience is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical repair principles, including PC networking and software configuration.
  • 1 to 3 years of electro/mechanical repair or experience in the weighing industry.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Weights & Measures license for the service area.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Capability to learn proprietary software and update information using company programs.
  • Willingness to travel overnight, with an average of up to 10%, potentially reaching 25% based on business needs.
  • Residence within the service territory.
  • Ability to work overtime, averaging up to 25% during peak periods.
  • Willingness to work in environments with potential hazards, including chemicals, vehicle traffic, and machinery.
  • Ability to wear protective equipment and clothing as required.

This position is safety-sensitive and subject to drug testing as permitted by law. Candidates may be required to provide proof of vaccinations or testing if working at customer locations that mandate such requirements.
