Position Overview:
The Vice President of Global Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) will spearhead the Global MSAT division, managing critical functions such as Technology Transfer, Automation, Validation, and Process Modeling. This pivotal role reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Operations and is responsible for the strategic oversight of the J.POD manufacturing platform across the global network of Evotec.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of the J.POD manufacturing platform, focusing on integrated continuous processes, equipment, and single-use technologies.
- Supervise the Tech Transfer Team, ensuring successful late-stage and commercial technology transitions, including support for PPQ campaigns.
- Direct the Technology Team in the assessment, design, and implementation of manufacturing process equipment and single-use technologies.
- Oversee the Automation Team, which focuses on designing and applying digital systems for process automation, including the Manufacturing Execution System and data management systems.
- Guide the Validation Team in establishing and maintaining validation standards and protocols for manufacturing facilities and equipment.
- Lead the Modeling Team, serving as a center of excellence for data science and business analysis, aiding in process engineering and development decision-making.
- Ensure alignment of manufacturing processes with strategic platform documents and governance frameworks.
- Collaborate with various departments, including manufacturing, quality assurance, process development, and supply chain.
- Engage with business development through client interactions to support growth initiatives.
- Develop a strategic vision and roadmap for the J.POD manufacturing platform, driving innovation in manufacturing processes and technologies.
- Represent Evotec at scientific conferences, showcasing expertise through presentations and leadership roles.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (B.S. or higher) in chemical or biological engineering, life sciences, or a related field, with over 20 years of relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of biologics drug substance manufacturing processes, including upstream and downstream technologies.
- Proven leadership experience in managing an MSAT organization.
- Recognized authority in manufacturing sciences, encompassing technology transfer, scale-up, and validation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to build and mentor high-performing teams and influence stakeholders.
- Experience leading major capital projects or tech transfer initiatives, particularly in late-stage programs.
- Extensive experience with process risk assessment tools and regulatory documentation.
- Familiarity with process modeling tools and automation systems.
- Strong understanding of cGMP requirements and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading global teams and Centers of Excellence.
- Knowledge of DeltaV automation systems and Manufacturing Execution Systems.
- Experience in authoring regulatory documents and engaging with regulatory agencies.
Compensation and Benefits:
The anticipated base salary for this position ranges from $225,000 to $255,000, with variations based on individual skills and experience. Additional benefits include a discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive health coverage, short-term and long-term disability insurance, 401k matching, flexible work arrangements, generous paid time off, and wellness programs.
