Position Overview: The Buyer 2 role is integral to our procurement operations, focusing on purchasing activities that align with production and operational needs at the Business Unit (BU) level. This position collaborates closely with the BU Planning Team and the Director of Supply Chain to manage procurement deliverables in accordance with company standards, ensuring that we meet customer material requirements and internal supply chain metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with regional and site customer focus teams to address material and business requirements.
  • Distribute Purchase Order Action (POA) reports to suppliers and oversee PO actions on a weekly basis.
  • Generate and manage ERP purchase order releases for production and new product introductions.
  • Monitor and communicate the status of purchase orders to the Customer Focus Team (CFT).
  • Set up and maintain parts in the ERP system as necessary, including preferred suppliers and lead times.
  • Collaborate with Materials Planners to secure customer approval on pricing and material liabilities.
  • Source materials to mitigate shortages while minimizing cost variances and excess inventory.
  • Handle material escalations with Commodity Management and suppliers.
  • Oversee Material Review Board (MRB) items related to quality and receiving issues.
  • Implement contract modifications as required.
  • Execute changes to Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with supplier approval and review processes.
  • Manage supplier relationships, focusing on selection, qualification, and performance monitoring.
  • Support inventory management initiatives, particularly Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives and negotiate with suppliers for non-commodity items.
  • Work with Materials Planners on strategies for inventory reduction.
  • Coordinate with Finance and suppliers to resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Address credit holds and payment terms issues with Finance as they relate to supplier deliveries.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for new tools and processes, acting as a superuser.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior buyers as needed.
  • Lead small projects with appropriate support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Inventory Management, or Purchasing Management, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Supply Chain is essential.
  • Certification or enrollment in APICS or PMAC is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Supply Chain methodologies is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems in a Supply Chain context, including purchasing and inventory management.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using Windows-based operating systems and related software.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel (including v-lookups and pivot tables).
  • Excellent organizational and administrative capabilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive under pressure.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Working Conditions:

Physical and Mental Demands:

Employees in this role will frequently sit and use hands for office tasks. They will also be required to stand, walk, and occasionally perform physical activities such as lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The working environment is generally clean, though exposure to occasional dust and noise from machinery may occur. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in certain situations.
