Position Overview: The Buyer 2 position is responsible for executing procurement activities that align with the operational needs of our production and business units. This role collaborates closely with the Business Unit Planning Team and the Director of Supply Chain to ensure procurement deliverables meet company standards, supporting both customer material requirements and internal supply chain objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with regional and site customer focus teams to fulfill material and business requirements.
  • Distribute Purchase Order Action (POA) reports to suppliers and oversee PO actions on a weekly basis.
  • Generate and manage ERP purchase order releases for production and new product introductions.
  • Monitor and communicate the status of purchase orders to the Customer Focus Team (CFT).
  • Set up and maintain parts in the ERP system as necessary, including preferred suppliers and lead times.
  • Collaborate with Materials Planners to secure customer approvals on pricing and materials liability.
  • Identify material shortages and implement solutions to minimize delivery disruptions while controlling costs.
  • Address material escalations with Commodity Management and suppliers.
  • Oversee Material Review Board (MRB) items related to quality and receiving issues.
  • Implement contract modifications as required.
  • Execute changes to Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) as directed.
  • Adhere to supplier approval processes and conduct performance reviews.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels and support Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) initiatives.
  • Drive cost reduction strategies and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Work with Materials Planners on inventory reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate with Finance and suppliers to resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Escalate credit holds and payment term issues to Finance as necessary.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing for new tools and processes.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior buyers as needed.
  • Lead small projects with appropriate support.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Inventory Management, or Purchasing Management, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Supply Chain is essential.
  • Preferred certification or enrollment in APICS or PMAC.
  • Experience with Lean Supply Chain practices is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems in a Supply Chain context, particularly in purchasing and inventory.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (including v-lookups and pivot tables).
  • Excellent organizational and administrative capabilities.
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Working Conditions:

Physical and Mental Demands:

In this role, employees will frequently sit and use hands to operate office equipment. They will also need to stand, walk, and occasionally stoop or kneel. The position may require lifting up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment:

The work environment is generally clean, though exposure to dust and noise from machinery may occur. Employees are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary. Business casual attire is acceptable.
