Chicago, Illinois, United States Chicago Public Schools Full time

Organization Overview:

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) stands as one of the largest educational systems in the United States, catering to over 320,000 students across more than 600 institutions and employing nearly 40,000 staff members, predominantly educators. CPS is committed to ensuring that every student, in every institution and neighborhood, has access to a premier educational experience that equips them for success in higher education, careers, and civic engagement. To achieve this mission, CPS has established three core commitments: academic advancement, financial integrity, and ethical governance. Six fundamental values underpin these commitments: student-centered approaches, holistic development, equity, academic excellence, community collaboration, and ongoing learning.

CPS schools are grouped into 18 distinct networks. The Office of Network Support plays a vital role in providing administrative assistance, strategic guidance, and leadership development to the schools within each network, while also facilitating essential support aimed at enhancing student learning outcomes.

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Director of Data Analytics, the Data Strategy Consultant will collaborate with 1-2 networks comprising approximately 20-40 urban schools. In partnership with network leadership and school administrators, the Data Strategy Consultant will be instrumental in developing a comprehensive data strategy for the designated networks and schools, aimed at fostering effective planning processes that enhance student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Chief of Schools to enhance principal and school team capabilities in alignment with the Continuous Improvement Process, including conducting root cause analyses and formulating coherent multi-year strategies.
  • Assist principals and school teams in the formulation, execution, and assessment of their Continuous Improvement Work Plans (CIWP), emphasizing strong inquiry cycles and data utilization for planning.
  • Provide regular, actionable feedback to support principals and their leadership teams in refining their data strategies to achieve improved outcomes.
  • Empower school teams to implement effective, data-driven instructional cycles.
  • Stay informed about changes in CPS policies and initiatives relevant to data, including accountability and assessment.
  • Guide school teams and leaders in accurately interpreting data in accordance with best analytic practices and CPS policies.
  • Enhance the planning capabilities of school and network leaders concerning CPS Accountability policies, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and assessment metric calculations.
  • Foster the ability of school network and campus leaders to monitor data cycles related to student experiences and discipline.
  • Facilitate access to datasets for schools and networks to support meaningful engagement with data inquiry cycles.
  • Offer expertise and consultation on selecting leading and lagging metric indicators for effective planning.
  • Assist chiefs in guiding principals and Instructional Leadership teams in establishing goals and selecting appropriate measures for monitoring school-based program progress.
  • Conduct strategic data analysis for the Chief of Schools to enhance student outcomes and the efficacy of schools, programs, and district initiatives.
  • Identify implications from school and network performance data and provide strategic recommendations to chief and network personnel.
  • Serve as the network's resource for understanding and accessing CPS data systems.
  • Participate in the District's Data Analyst User Group.
  • Utilize approved enterprise analytic tools (SAS or SQL).
  • Adhere to guiding principles for analytic practices as established by the Data Governance Council.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience:
