Job Summary: As a Lead Pastry Specialist at Times Supermarkets, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the bakery department. This includes preparing high-quality bakery products for sale, providing exceptional customer service, and managing a team of bakery staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
  • Take orders and practice suggestive selling techniques.
  • Prepare and bake bakery items for display.
  • Decorate and finish cakes, pies, and desserts.
  • Write on cakes upon customer requests.
  • Operate a 20qt mixer to prepare fillings and frostings.
  • Take phone orders and/or phone messages.
  • Be knowledgeable about bakery items and promotions.
  • Rotate bakery items to ensure quality and freshness.
  • Conduct floor checks to ensure shelves are stocked and products are merchandised properly.
  • Train and develop bakery staff.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Foster a positive work environment.
  • Organize and replenish ingredients and supplies.
  • Ensure company programs and philosophies are carried out.
  • Collaborate with business partners.
  • Receive merchandise and take inventory.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older (operates heavy machinery)
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs unassisted
  • Stand for extended periods with frequent bending and stooping
  • Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Previous experience working with the public
  • Time management skills
  • Proper knife skills and sanitation knowledge
  • Ability to read and understand recipes and measuring quantities
  • Ability to work occasional longer shifts (10 hours) and varied schedules

Work Environment:

  • Air-conditioned store environment with exposure to heat and cold temperatures
