Job Summary

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a highly skilled Lead Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Compliance Services Section, you will be responsible for coordinating programs and monitoring activities that enhance compliance with motor vehicle laws, regulations, and agency policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and collaborate with management in program planning, development, implementation, analysis, and documentation of section programs.
  • Provide input into the development and revision of section policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Conduct training and guide others in integrating new or revised methods and procedures.
  • Oversee and review internal compliance reports through electronic databases.
  • Supervise the work of others, train, lead, and prioritize the work of other compliance specialists.
  • Perform complex compliance reviews of motor vehicle dealer and/or county tax assessor-collector locations for conformity with Texas laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Identify training opportunities and refer issues to appropriate management.
  • Compile, review, and analyze transaction data to verify documentation aligns with established Department policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or the U.S. equivalent, with major coursework in business, public administration, finance, accounting, statistical analysis, research methodology, criminal justice, or liberal arts.
  • Five (5) years of experience in compliance analysis or monitoring, legal analysis, strategic planning, auditing, investigations, or related activities.
  • Two (2) years of experience conducting county compliance reviews or motor vehicle related investigations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with license plate inventory management.
  • Experience with licensed motor vehicle dealer related policies and procedures.
  • Experience with Texas motor vehicle title and registration policies and procedures.
