Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Paralegal, Legal Compliance Specialist to join our team at Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans. The successful candidate will provide critical support to our immigration attorneys and DOJ Representatives, ensuring the smooth operation of our programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct assistance and support to up to 4 immigration attorneys and/or DOJ Representatives.
  • Facilitate communication between the client and the legal provider, including interpretation and translation services as needed.
  • Manage client communication from intake to case preparation, including gathering and preparing case documentation and evidence.
  • Maintain and organize client files, both physical and electronic.
  • Document and maintain records of client interactions, ensuring accurate and comprehensive logs.
  • Coordinate client referrals to Social Services within our program or to other services provided by the organization.
  • Assist in special projects, immigration legal workshops, and relevant training.
  • Ensure compliance with program-related grant requirements and organization policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional administrative tasks, including payment collection, invoicing, mailing, calendar management, and office supplies.

Requirements:
  • Completely fluent in Spanish and English (written and oral) required.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Previous administrative or office experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and culturally competent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a substantial workload with deadline pressures.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all case and client information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to learn immigration database/software.

Working Conditions:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Physical Demands:
  • Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
  • Stand less than 33% of time on duty.
  • Walk less than 33% of time on duty.
  • Sit between 33% and 66% of time on duty.
  • Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel over 66% of time on duty.
  • Full ability to talk and hear.
  • Correctable vision required.
