Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Prepress Graphics Specialist to join our team at Sir Speedy. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of print output activities.

Responsibilities
  • Production Requirements: Perform production requirements in a timely and efficient manner, meeting customer time frame requirements.
  • Graphic Design and Solutions: Offer graphic design ideas, solutions, and alternatives based on customer input, working closely with customers and our sales team to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Scheduling and Deadlines: Schedule all work to meet customer time frame requirements, monitor deadlines, and report conflicts to management to establish priorities before jobs are due.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain prepress computer, printer, and other equipment (PC and Mac), scanner, and RIPs, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Technology and Software: Become proficient in the current technology for creating graphics, documents, and digital files utilizing existing equipment and materials, including InDesign, Quark, Microsoft Word, Acrobat, Microsoft Publisher, Illustrator, PowerPoint, CorelDraw, and PhotoShop.
  • Customer Communication: Follow-up with customers on all proofs, monitor system for digital files sent by customers via MyDocs and e-mail, and preflight digital files for potential problems.
  • File Management: Perform regular computer backup and archive customer files for safekeeping and for easy retrieval, purge obsolete files, and output digital files per job specifications.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Two years' education in graphic design, 1-year practical experience with 1 year of print production experience.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in dual platform applications, knowledge of PDF and postscript files and PDF plug-ins, and proficiency in current technology for creating graphics, documents, and digital files.
Desired Skills
  • Digital Training: Provide necessary digital training to sales staff when appropriate.
  • Coordination and Quality Control: Coordinate with copy and press operators to ensure that work meets their expectations/requirements, reject poor quality or incorrect jobs, and notify management.
  • Supply Management: Monitor graphics supplies and order as needed.
  • PrintSmith or PrintersPlan Experience: Experience with PrintSmith or PrintersPlan.
Compensation

$25.00 per hour.
