Role Overview: The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor (FMS) will spearhead and execute the maintenance and/or replacement of the district's bus fleet, ensuring that all units are in safe operational condition and comply with district, state, and federal regulations under the supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Service Manager (FMSM). The FMS will provide support and direction to the campuses under their jurisdiction to achieve objectives related to maintenance costs per rider, ensuring the fleet at each campus is operational, and guaranteeing that service requests are addressed within a 48-hour timeframe.

  • The hourly wage for this position ranges from $20.34 for entry-level candidates to $25.42 for those with more experience.
  • Eligible for performance bonuses based on team achievements and goal fulfillment.

  • Tuition Reimbursement: Staff can apply for reimbursement of up to 50% of tuition for qualifying degree programs, with a maximum of $5,250 per year, subject to managerial discretion and budget availability.
  • Employer-Paid Mental/Behavioral Health Services: Includes 5 in-person counseling sessions annually, unlimited 24/7 telephonic counseling, and other work-life services at no cost.

Key Competencies:
  • Experience with purchase order systems.
  • Proficient in using a laptop for diagnosing maintenance issues.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: ASE Certification is required or a commitment to obtain certification within the first 6 months of employment.
Responsibilities:

Ensure Fleet Safety and Compliance:
  • Assess the operational status of the bus fleet prior to student transport.
  • Delegate tasks to Campus Mechanics for proper execution of minor repairs.
  • Maintain precise records of operational work orders.
  • Stay informed about district, state, and federal regulations.
Achieve Maintenance Cost Savings:
  • Manage the budget in accordance with parameters set by the FMSM of the Transportation department.
  • Ensure all purchased parts meet quality standards and are procured at competitive prices.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of all parts.
Communicate Effectively with Campus Managers:
  • Maintain open lines of communication with campus managers.
  • Provide constructive feedback to drivers and managers regarding fleet management.
Identify and Address Areas for Improvement:
  • Utilize budget tracking and reporting tools to pinpoint areas needing attention.
  • Apply diesel mechanic expertise to implement necessary corrections.
Provide Training and Support:
  • Deliver hands-on training to Campus Mechanics as required.
  • Recommend vehicle specifications to enhance reliability and minimize warranty costs.
  • Foster ongoing engagement with maintenance staff within the department.
Manage External Service Vendors:
  • Process payments promptly using purchase order systems.
  • Engage with external vendors regarding audit work, including trend analysis and recommendations to fleet managers based on findings.
