You will serve as a strategic negotiator, formulating and executing multi-year strategies for designated product lines, suppliers, and parts/services to meet established objectives in supplier quality, delivery, pricing, and service.

This position collaborates with cross-functional partners, including engineering, manufacturing, product management, and functional stakeholders. The team manages competitive bidding, negotiation, contracting processes, and technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services, working across over 10 different Business Units and regions for optimal organizational leverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for all procurement initiatives related to assigned product line(s).
  • Conduct data analysis for key performance metrics and operational matters.
  • Drive business outcomes (e.g., cost savings, supplier performance, and compliance) for the assigned product line, including leading and managing leverage price and terms negotiations with current and prospective suppliers.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and selection processes for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and engineering changes.
  • Ensure optimal upfront costs and high supplier service levels through thorough analysis of supplier data, financial stability, capacity, and capabilities.
  • Establish communication channels with regional business unit leadership to understand commodity requirements, service level expectations, and to measure and communicate results.
  • Oversee assigned commodity projects, encompassing Purchasing, Expediting, Issue Resolution, Payment, and Supplier Performance Reporting.
  • Provide support to resolve operational challenges such as blocked invoices, supplier compliance, delivery issues, and supplier quality concerns.
  • Negotiate and formalize supplier agreements/contracts as necessary within the organization's systems.
  • Develop plans for supply base consolidation or exit strategies in collaboration with the commodity team for projects and expenditures across your product line.
  • Facilitate Voice of Customer sessions with internal stakeholders and leverage feedback to enhance team performance and supplier service.
  • Ensure supplier launches and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) align with overall program timelines.
  • Manage the successful transition of programs from the NPI phase to ongoing operations.
  • Participate in periodic business reviews with key suppliers to ensure alignment with company metrics and directives, implementing improvement plans for underperforming suppliers.
  • Provide robust support for all manufacturing facilities within the region.
  • Collaborate closely with other Business Unit Commodity Managers and Product Line Managers to share best practices and enhance negotiation leverage.
  • Maintain a focus on building a resilient supply chain for NPI, with a strong emphasis on positively impacting project operating income.

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Sourcing, particularly if procurement/sourcing is a key responsibility.
  • Prior experience with SAP is advantageous.
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams across functions.
  • Experience managing categories or commodities effectively.
  • Proven track record of delivering value to the organization.
  • Familiarity with utilizing KPIs.
  • Experience in developing and managing a successful strategic sourcing process.
  • Knowledge of cost modeling, negotiating cost drivers, preventing cost escalation, and achieving cost reductions.
  • Awareness of market trends and supplier/technical developments in managed commodities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging both technical/engineering teams and business teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing commodities and related materials.
  • Preferred experience in leading a commodity, project team, or direct reports.
  • Experience in managing the transfer of production processes.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with international teams and individuals.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to think creatively.
  • Competence in analyzing complex financial documentation and RFP submissions, providing detailed reports and recommendations to management.
  • Negotiation expertise.
  • Organized and capable of meeting critical deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite, with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related engineering discipline.
