As a strategic negotiator, you will develop and execute multi-year strategies for assigned product lines, suppliers, and services, ensuring alignment with established objectives in supplier quality, delivery, pricing, and service.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, product management, and functional leaders, to execute competitive bidding, negotiation, contracting processes, and technical improvements for assigned commodities or services. This role requires collaboration across multiple business units and regions to optimize organizational leverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for all procurement initiatives related to assigned product lines.
  • Conduct data analysis to monitor key performance metrics and operational items.
  • Drive business results, including cost savings and supplier performance, through effective negotiations with suppliers.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and selection processes for new product introduction (NPI) programs and engineering changes.
  • Ensure optimal supplier selection by analyzing supplier data, financial stability, capacity, and capabilities.
  • Establish communication channels with regional business unit leadership to assess commodity needs and service level requirements.
  • Manage commodity projects encompassing purchasing, expediting, issue resolution, payment, and supplier performance reporting.
  • Address operational challenges such as blocked invoices, supplier compliance, delivery issues, and quality concerns.
  • Negotiate and formalize supplier agreements and contracts as necessary.
  • Develop strategies for supply base consolidation or exit plans in collaboration with the commodity team.
  • Facilitate Voice of Customer sessions to gather feedback and enhance team performance and supplier service.
  • Ensure alignment of supplier launches and PPAP with overall program timelines.
  • Oversee the successful transition of programs from the NPI phase to ongoing operations.
  • Participate in periodic business reviews with key suppliers to ensure alignment with company metrics and directives, implementing improvement plans as needed.
  • Provide robust support to all manufacturing plants within the region.
  • Collaborate with other commodity managers and product line managers to share best practices and enhance negotiation leverage.
  • Focus on building a resilient supply chain for NPI with an emphasis on positively impacting project operating income.

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Sourcing, with a focus on procurement responsibilities.
  • Previous experience with SAP is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Experience in managing categories and commodities effectively.
  • Demonstrated capability in driving value for the organization.
  • Utilization of KPIs to measure performance.
  • Experience in developing and managing a successful strategic sourcing process.
  • Knowledge of cost modeling, negotiation of cost drivers, and achieving cost reductions.
  • Staying informed on market trends and supplier developments in managed commodities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in engaging both technical and business teams.
  • Proven experience in managing commodities and materials.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing a commodity, project team, or direct reports is preferred.
  • Experience in transferring production processes is a plus.
  • Able to work effectively with international teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial documents and RFP submissions, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

Education:

A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related engineering discipline is required.
