Responsibilities of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) or Home Health Aides (HHAs)

  • Personal Care and Hygiene: Assist clients with personal care activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Medication Management: Assist clients with medication management, including administering medications and monitoring side effects.
  • Household Management: Maintain a clean and safe living environment, including light housekeeping and laundry.
  • Communication and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of client care and communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.

Requirements for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) or Home Health Aides (HHAs)

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum 1 year of experience in home care preferred.
  • Licensure and Certification: Current, valid Florida CNA license or 40-75 hour Home Health Aide Certificate required; BLS CPR certification and TB skin test or blood test required.
  • Alzheimer's Training and CEUs: Completion of 2-hour DOEA-approved Alzheimer's training course and 2-hour Assistance with Self-Administration of Medication CEU required.
