Position Overview:

The State of Florida is seeking a dedicated Senior Licensed Practical Nurse to provide essential nursing services within a mental health treatment facility. This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care for residents.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Administer medications, including oral and injectable forms, adhering to established protocols and within the scope of practice.
2. Engage in the Hospital Infection Control program, reporting potential infections to the appropriate medical personnel.
3. Prepare necessary documentation for medical consultations and assist healthcare providers during examinations.
4. Coordinate resident appointments, ensuring proper medication administration prior to departures.
5. Provide emergency medical and psychiatric care as needed, notifying the appropriate healthcare professionals for further assistance.
6. Input lab orders as directed and maintain effective communication regarding any issues with medical equipment.
7. Uphold resident rights and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
8. Conduct assessments of resident complaints and document findings accurately.
9. Facilitate medication education sessions to enhance residents' understanding of their treatment regimens.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:
- Comprehensive knowledge of licensed practical nursing principles and practices.
- Familiarity with human anatomy and physiology.
- Understanding of the operational procedures of the Florida State Hospital.
- Proficiency in the use of medical equipment and instruments.
- Strong skills in triage and emergency care.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Capacity to build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and residents.

Work Environment:

This position requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment as recommended by health authorities. All staff members are expected to participate in ongoing health assessments as part of their employment.
