As a vital member of the Human Resources Team, the Leave & Compliance Specialist will oversee the administration of multi-state leave of absence and accommodation programs, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal HR regulations, while also developing and assessing HR policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert Management: Manage the complete leave of absence and accommodation process, from initial requests to employee reintegration, ensuring a seamless and compliant experience.
  • Compliance Champion: Keep abreast of FMLA, ADA, and other pertinent laws, ensuring all practices meet compliance standards.
  • Educate & Inform: Assist employees in navigating the leave management process, clarifying eligibility, managing documentation, and processing medical certifications.
  • Policy Administration: Implement time-off programs in accordance with internal policies and applicable laws, managing HR handbooks and policies, and recommending necessary changes.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and execute controls to identify and rectify compliance issues, providing training to managers and employees on updates.
  • Regulatory Insight: Stay informed of legal requirements and assess their implications for our organization, ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Team Collaboration: Engage in a supportive, team-oriented environment where your contributions are valued and essential to our collective success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field; a minimum of 5 years experience in complex multi-state leave of absence and accommodation administration, along with at least 3 years of HR generalist experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred certifications include SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP); or HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution is highly desirable, with special consideration given to JD applicants.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of multi-state leaves of absence, accommodations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in creating reports using current MS Office applications (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Capability to review and revise policies and procedures, effectively communicating changes.
  • Ability to develop and adhere to standardized procedures.
  • Capacity to exercise independent judgment in completing tasks.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
