The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services seeks a highly skilled Epidemiologist III to join our team. As a key member of our Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology Unit, you will play a critical role in advancing our understanding of maternal and infant health in Texas.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the State Systems Development Initiative (SSDI) to build data systems and expand the state's MCH data capacity to support Title V program efforts and contribute to data-driven program efforts throughout the state.
• Analyze large data sets and complex sample survey data for the annual Healthy Texas Mothers and Babies Data Book, conducting advanced and descriptive analyses on maternal and infant health factors, and disseminating results.
• Design and implement data collection and data management tools for maternal and infant health surveillance, including qualitative and quantitative research.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on maternal and infant health topics and epidemiology, providing research consultation and technical assistance to programmatic, medical, and public health professionals.
• Collaborate with epidemiologists and other research specialist staff across the agency and other state/federal agencies to advance our understanding of maternal and infant health in Texas.
Requirements:
• Master's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field, with a strong background in research planning and evaluation methods, statistical analysis, and data management.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical software, including SAS, Python, SQL, Tableau, and ArcGIS, as well as Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex data analysis and research findings to a variety of audiences.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
