Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services seeks a highly skilled Epidemiologist III to join our team. As a key member of our Epidemiology Branch, you will perform advanced research and epidemiological work in maternal and infant health, leveraging your expertise to drive data-driven program efforts throughout the state.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the State Systems Development Initiative (SSDI), collaborating with stakeholders to build data systems and expand the state's maternal and child health data capacity.
  • Analyze large data sets and complex sample survey data for the annual Healthy Texas Mothers and Babies Data Book, conducting advanced statistical analyses and disseminating results.
  • Design and implement data collection and data management tools for maternal and infant health surveillance, ensuring high-quality data for research and program evaluation.
  • Provide research consultation and technical assistance to programmatic, medical, and public health professionals on epidemiological methods, research/surveillance design, and program evaluation/assessment of public health practices.
  • Develop and maintain complex scientific protocols and operational manuals for all projects, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field, with a strong background in statistical analysis and research design.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical software, including SAS, Python, SQL, Tableau, and ArcGIS, with experience in data visualization and dashboard creation.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences, including state and federal agency staff, legislators, and other stakeholders.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position, requiring regular attendance and adherence to agency leave policy. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with colleagues across the agency and other state/federal agencies to drive public health initiatives.
