Job Overview

Are you seeking a fulfilling career with an organization that prioritizes its members? Credit Union of Georgia is in search of a skilled Customer Service Specialist to enhance our dynamic and expanding Contact Center.

The Customer Service Specialist is responsible for delivering outstanding support and assistance to members and prospective members through their phone and online inquiries. This role involves explaining various products and services, addressing concerns, and routing calls to the appropriate departments, including loan and account services, while assisting with the opening or troubleshooting of any Credit Union account, product, service, or consumer loan offered by Credit Union of Georgia.


Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold and adhere to the Credit Union of Georgia brand standards by following the steps of our unique member journEASE experience, ensuring to Engage, Ask, Solve, and Excite, while delivering exceptional member service consistently.
  • Efficiently and accurately perform routine transactions on member accounts, including but not limited to loan payments, transfers, and assisting with online banking issues such as password resets or account troubleshooting.
  • Assist members in closing accounts, addressing inquiries, seeking solutions to meet member needs, and resolving issues.
  • Process wire transfer requests as needed.
  • Recognize when to seek guidance from supervisors while also providing informed recommendations.
  • Complete training assignments and attend scheduled training sessions punctually, achieving satisfactory outcomes.
  • Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Cross-sell and highlight the features and benefits of Credit Union products and services, identifying opportunities to strengthen member relationships through referrals for services such as the Credit Union Auto Buying Service, mortgages, or Member's Financial Services. Stay informed about the goals set for the branch and the Credit Union.
  • Ensure thorough familiarity and compliance with all State and Federal laws and regulations, including maintaining any necessary personal certifications or registries as required by law, and adhering to the S.A.F.E. Act, BSA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate member account information in Symitar, ensuring that loan notes and other member details are documented as required.
  • Complete all assigned training within the designated timeframe.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of six months to two years of relevant experience in a banking or credit union environment, including time spent in preparatory roles.

Bilingual: Proficiency in both Spanish and English is required.

Education: A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is essential to be an effective subject matter expert in this role. Engaging in in-depth dialogues and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports, and external vendors regarding sensitive and/or highly confidential matters is a regular part of the daily experience. Communication may involve motivating, influencing, educating, and advising others on significant issues.
