Job Objective

A Production Technician I is responsible for the effective operation of assembly and testing equipment, ensuring that all calibration labels are current. A Production Technician II & III engages in various assembly and testing tasks across multiple product lines while also providing training to fellow operators. A Production Technician IV possesses the skills to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and mentor Technicians I, II, or III. A Production Technician V has the expertise to troubleshoot, repair, and train Technicians I through IV, and also brings experience as a Team Leader and Trainer to guide floor employees and manage work allocation and resources. All levels may be called upon to assist in different roles or departments as required.

Education / Training Requirements

• Skill Level II - 1-2 years of relevant experience or a High School diploma, GED, or vocational/technical training;

• Skill Level I - 0-1 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble various components into semi-finished or finished products;

• Disassemble, assemble, and test injectors and pumps;

• Demonstrate proficiency with tools such as torque wrenches, pressure and flow gauges, lapping machines, wash tanks, tumblers, grinding tools, pneumatic impact tools, calipers, scales, tape measures, and both electric and air-operated hand tools;

• Interpret schematics and blueprints, and perform basic mathematical calculations;

• Consistently and accurately follow verbal or written work instructions, standards, and Quality Work Instructions (QWI).

Qualifications and Experience

• Physical Requirements - Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 35 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs;

• Motion - Frequent walking and sustained bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, and overhead reaching, as well as climbing ladders;

• Vision/Hearing - Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions and respond to audible alarms;

• Work Environment - Operates on various surfaces, including concrete and gravel, and works at different heights from floor level to the tops of locomotives. Must be comfortable in confined spaces and in non-temperature-controlled environments with exposure to high noise and dust levels;

• Emotional Demands - Must be able to work independently in a challenging environment;

• Safety - This position is safety-sensitive, requiring adherence to safety protocols, health screenings, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including metatarsal boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and ear protection.
