JOB SUMMARY
The Certified Pharmacy Technician/Assistant Buyer plays a vital role in supporting the pharmacist by performing various tasks in compliance with federal regulations. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, medication order entry, medication delivery, and compounding IV admixtures, including cytotoxic and medium-risk formulations. The role also encompasses operations of Acudose and NarcVault, managing inventory, processing orders, and maintaining computer systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Assisting the pharmacy buyer in ensuring a seamless supply of stock and managing back orders.
- Handling monthly interdepartmental billing for departments utilizing pharmacy services.
- Verifying invoices and purchase orders for vendor payments.
- Maintaining and updating the McKesson Automatic Connect Rx database to ensure accurate drug information.
- Implementing a quality control system for proper drug barcoding prior to dispensing.
- Managing inventory for robotic systems based on usage trends.
- Assisting in the management of controlled substances and resolving discrepancies.
- Accurately compounding IV admixtures using aseptic techniques.
- Training and supporting pharmacy staff as needed.
- Completing stock requisitions and patient medication orders with precision.
- Performing AcuDose operations efficiently and without errors.
- Executing computer functions related to pharmacy operations accurately.
- Completing assigned tasks promptly to maintain productivity.
- Providing assistance to other pharmacy areas when required.
- Communicating effectively with callers and addressing inquiries appropriately.
- Demonstrating knowledge of pharmacy automation systems.
- Managing multiple tasks and prioritizing customer service effectively.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should possess:
- A minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician certification in the state of Florida.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) within 90 days of hire.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in operating a PC and managing documents.
