Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Echocardiography Specialist to join our team at Penn Medicine. As a key member of our non-invasive cardiology department, you will be responsible for performing highly specialized non-invasive tests to diagnose cardiological abnormalities and participating in research activities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform highly skilled, specialized non-invasive tests using sophisticated mechanical and electronic instruments and microcomputers.
  • Arrange schedules for patient echocardiography studies and prioritize requests by reviewing orders and securing additional information from referring physicians when necessary.
  • Conduct M-Mode, 2-D, Doppler echocardiogram and color flow Doppler studies in various settings, including inpatient/outpatient laboratories, patient rooms, intensive care units, ER, and OR.
  • Assist physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms performed under conscious sedation in the laboratory and in the OR.
  • Perform exercise stress and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms.
  • Coordinate daily operations of the echo laboratory to ensure studies are performed with optimal quality.
  • Maintain daily logs of all patients and assist managers with preparation of monthly statistics.
  • Edit and copy videotapes, maintain files on tests performed, and create teaching tapes.
  • Perform minor maintenance on instruments.
Requirements
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDSM) certification.
  • Associate's degree in Cardiovascular/Cardiopulmonary technology or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of echocardiography experience.
