Senior Electrical Engineering Lead - Circuit Card Development
Job Description:
In this pivotal role, you will be accountable for the architecture, design, development, modification, evaluation, and integration of electronic systems, components, and circuitry for sophisticated, high-performance digital hardware solutions.
Your responsibilities will include analyzing electrical specifications to assess the feasibility of designs within defined time and budget parameters before embarking on the preliminary and detailed phases of the circuit card development lifecycle.
Upon finalizing the design, you will be expected to provide support to manufacturing processes prior to conducting testing and formal acceptance. You will oversee the entire product lifecycle, including environmental assessments, qualification, and production phases.Key Responsibilities:
Lead various design initiatives for both new and existing products, primarily involving FPGA or Processor technologies, along with numerous high-speed interfaces.
Utilize advanced electrical engineering principles and methodologies to guide design, development, documentation, verification, and troubleshooting activities during manufacturing.
Your work will be conducted with a high degree of autonomy, allowing you to exercise significant discretion in determining the technical objectives of your assignments.
Evaluate environmental and component tolerances to identify potential corner cases and ensure adequate design margins for all relevant conditions.
Collaborate directly with members of the product development team to deliver high-quality and reliable products.
Electrical design impacts various teams including Mechanical Engineering, Test Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, Software Engineering, Verification Engineering, and Management.
Engage with Component Engineering, Purchasing, and Program Management to develop effective strategies for obsolescence, cost management, and lead time reduction.Conduct conceptual designs and trade studies to support marketing and proposal efforts.
Leverage extensive product knowledge to identify opportunities for design reuse in potential new products and evaluate the feasibility of meeting new requirements.
Assist in assessing supplier capabilities to deliver products or services.You may also be involved in drafting Statements of Work (SOWs) and specifications for subcontracted items, as well as approving third-party deliverables (technical input and oversight). Provide innovative solutions to a wide range of complex challenges.
Undertake intricate research and development assignments where your decisions and recommendations will have a significant impact on division performance.Act as the primary technical liaison for the organization on contracts and projects, interacting with senior external personnel on critical technical matters that often require coordination across multiple organizations.
Foster collaborative relationships with Engineering Managers and Program Leadership to align with business needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of related experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 13 years of related electrical engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
6+ years of experience in circuit card design processes, including requirements generation, preliminary design (block diagram creation, long lead part identification), detailed design (schematic creation, simulation, placement & routing), test plan development, and integration & testing.
Proficient in operating electronic laboratory equipment such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes (DSO, Mixed Signal), signal generators, and DC power supplies.
Preferred Skills:
Experience leading teams in the design of Digital Circuit Card Assemblies (Technical, Cost, & Schedule). Familiarity with signal integrity analysis tools (Hyperlynx preferred). Proficient in Mentor Graphics Xpedition tool suite. Knowledge of high-speed serial protocols including 10/25 Gb Ethernet, PCI Express Gen 2/3, and Fibre Channel, among other high-speed standards. Experience with high-speed memory interfaces.
