Position OverviewThe Certified Anesthesia Technician operates under the guidance of the Department Administrator or designated personnel, adhering to established standards of care, policies, and procedures. This role involves the cleaning, preparation for sterilization, assembly, storage, and maintenance of equipment and supplies essential for the Anesthesia Department.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Quality Control: Conduct daily upkeep and quality assessments of anesthesia machines, including testing for leaks and troubleshooting issues. Ensure thorough cleaning, sterilization, and decontamination of all anesthesia-related equipment.
- Equipment Setup: Assemble basic anesthesia setups and perform equipment turnover, ensuring the appropriate selection of age-specific equipment.
- Patient Transport Assistance: Aid in the transportation of patients to various units, ensuring the readiness of oxygen sources and monitoring equipment.
- Direct Patient Care Support: Assist in routine and emergency procedures under supervision, including arterial line placements and patient positioning.
- Room Preparation: Set up operating rooms according to specific procedures and requirements.
- Supply Management: Maintain adequate inventory levels of anesthesia supplies and equipment, coordinating with pharmacy and management to ensure availability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare team members to promote effective communication and enhance patient care.
- Basic computer skills are necessary.
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. from an overhead position.
- Capacity to push/pull weights up to 500 lbs.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Experience working with cleaning solutions is required.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Basic Life Support certification from AHA is mandatory.
- Completion of an ASATT approved program in anesthesia technology or equivalent experience.
- Certification as an Anesthesia Technician from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians.
- Basic Life Support certification.
