Position Overview:
Roosevelt University is in search of a faculty member eligible for appointment as an associate or full professor, who possesses a robust history of externally funded laboratory-based research in biological, biochemical, or biomedical sciences, along with substantial experience in academic leadership. This pivotal role is essential to the university's growth and innovation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research Leadership (50%): Develop and drive a comprehensive research agenda, encouraging internal collaborations, prioritizing student mentorship, and guiding faculty in securing external funding.
- Teaching Duties (25%): Instruct at least two graduate courses annually in biomedical science or related fields, while also mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Program Administration (25%): Collaborate with faculty and administration to design and guide new scientific degree programs through internal governance and accreditation processes.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of funded research in a biomedical or bioscience field, evidenced by a strong publication history and current grant funding. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in both didactic and laboratory teaching, along with experience in curriculum design and implementation.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in mentoring doctoral candidates, as well as in the creation and execution of new graduate degree programs from inception to accreditation, is highly desirable. A commitment to innovation and best practices focused on student success is essential.
Working Environment:
This is a full-time, academic year position requiring occasional evening and weekend work. The role is primarily in-person, with a collaborative approach to enhancing student success and retention.
