The University of Chicago's Division of Biological Sciences and Pritzker School of Medicine seek an exceptional academic leader to serve as the Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery.

About the Role

The Chair will be responsible for building nationally recognized research programs, creating patient-centered multidisciplinary clinical services, and developing highly competitive training programs that prepare tomorrow's neurosurgeons and inspire trainees to pursue academic careers.

The appointee must be clinically active and have a substantial record of important publications and demonstrated impact on their field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Department of Neurosurgery in achieving academic, educational, and clinical excellence
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the department's research, clinical, and educational missions
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the University to promote a culture of institutional stewardship and transparency
  • Advocate for the department's interests and priorities within the University
  • Ensure the department's compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and University policies
Requirements
  • Medical doctorate or equivalent
  • Active board certification by the American Board of Neurological Surgery or comparable credentials
  • Eligibility for appointment at senior faculty rank
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and dynamic environment
