About the Position

The University of California, Merced is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodial Operations Manager to join our facilities team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and security of our campus facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interior Cleaning: Conduct thorough cleaning of all assigned areas, including offices, classrooms, and public spaces.
  • Furniture Care: Clean and maintain all furniture, including lifting and rearranging furniture as needed.
  • Floor Care: Perform proper cleaning functions for all interior areas, including operating various machinery.
  • Restroom Care: Clean and maintain all public and private restrooms, including replenishing supplies and clearing minor drain stoppages.
  • Equipment Care: Clean and maintain all machinery designed for cleaning purposes.
  • Waste Management: Remove and transport all trash and recyclables to the proper location for disposal.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Clean all assigned exterior areas, including sidewalks, landings, stairwells, windows, and other assigned areas.
Leadership and Communication
  • Establish and Maintain Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, residents, and campus community members.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Open Lines of Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with residents, Housing staff, and Facilities Maintenance staff.
Administrative, Safety, and Work Habits
  • Participate in Mandatory Meetings: Participate in mandatory meetings, training sessions, and seminars.
  • Safeguard Keys: Safeguard keys and other sensitive materials.
  • Submit Regular Reports: Submit regular written supply requests, work orders, damage reports, and common area furniture inventories.
  • Report Accidents: Promptly report accidents on the job and prepare and submit accident reports.
Qualifications
  • Education and Requirements: High school diploma and/or equivalent certification/experience/training.
  • Experience: Six months of experience in a custodial cleaning operation or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Certifications: Must obtain scissor lift operating certification, boom lift operating certification, and fork lift certifications within six months of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid CA Driver's License.
