This position necessitates a thorough, practical understanding of accounting principles, practices, and standards to effectively review, resolve, and authorize financial transactions and documents.Preferred Qualifications
Candidates lacking the preferred qualifications may still be considered for this role if they meet the job requirements. At least six months of experience utilizing automated payroll and financial management systems, such as Payroll Human Resource Statewide Technology System (PHRST) and First State Financial System (FSF), for data entry, updates, modifications, deletions, retrievals, and reporting.Key Responsibilities
The following essential functions are fundamental to all positions within this classification. This list is not exhaustive of all job duties for any specific position within the class. Evaluate and analyze financial transactions and records for accuracy while ensuring compliance with agency budgets, relevant agreements, grants, or contracts, as well as state or federal laws, rules, and regulations. Analyze, reconcile, and consolidate data into the general ledger from various journals, records, and documents; prepare trial balances and implement corrections, updates, and adjustments to maintain balanced funds and an audit trail. Review financial transactions, classifications, and codes for accuracy and suggest necessary modifications. Uphold internal controls and apply accounting principles, practices, and standards consistently. Offer advice and technical guidance regarding assigned fiscal functions. Compile, analyze, and prepare diverse statements and reports reflecting financial health for use in financial, budgetary, and personnel planning. Conduct research and provide data, reports, and other documentation to state, federal, and independent auditors, as well as for other financial information requests. Utilize commercial and proprietary automated information systems and software to investigate, review, evaluate, and report on financial data. Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients and the public through various communication channels. Effectively communicate and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, genders, ethnicities, ages, and races. May oversee purchasing, disbursement, and inventory management of equipment and supplies.Job Requirements
Qualifications for Fiscal Advisor IIIApplicants must demonstrate education, training, and/or experience that illustrates competence in the following areas: A minimum of two years' experience in compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial data to ensure effective accounting of funds or to facilitate financial planning projections. A minimum of two years' experience ensuring financial transaction compliance with budgets, relevant agreements, grants, or contracts, and state or federal laws, rules, and regulations. At least six months' experience in analyzing financial issues, developing alternatives, and advising management on potential solutions. Relevant coursework, training, and/or work experience in staff supervision, which may include acting as a lead worker overseeing the tasks of others.
