Job Title: Clinical Assessment Specialist
About the Role:
Clinical Screeners are highly specialized professionals who conduct assessments of children in substitute care and their former guardians. These assessments include developing a diagnostic impression, estimating violence potential, as well as an assessment of parenting capacity. The role involves completing specialized reports that inform treatment planning and develop permanency plans for children.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts highly specialized trauma-focused assessments to develop a diagnostic impression.
- Completes early childhood developmental screenings and other assessments of abused and neglected children.
- Assesses youth to inform recommendations for treatment, including the appropriate level of care.
- Determines the level of substance abuse intervention required through diagnostic substance abuse assessments.
- Evaluates parenting capacity and determines necessary interventions.
- Assesses interpersonal violence and makes recommendations for interventions.
- Writes forensic reports integrating information from assessments, case file review, and documentation.
- Completes clinical documentation and shares with supervisors and relevant entities.
- Takes a leadership role in IDCFS clinical meetings.
Requirements:
- Masters degree from a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, counseling, etc).
- Current Illinois LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist licensure. Will consider LSW and LCP with relevant experience.
- Three years of relevant clinical experience.
- A working knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria.
- Empirically supported clinical practices knowledge.
- Social, emotional, and physical development knowledge across the lifespan.
- Risk determination ability for self-harm or violence.
Compensation and Benefits:
The estimated annual salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 based on location and experience. Northern Illinois University offers competitive benefits packages and opportunities for professional growth.
