Clinical Screener Specialist

About the Role:
Clinical Screeners work from home, conducting specialized assessments of children in substitute care and their former guardians. These assessments include developing a diagnostic impression based on DSM-5 criteria, estimating violence potential, and assessing parenting capacity.
As a Clinical Screener Specialist at Northern Illinois University, you will complete specialized reports that inform treatment planning and develop permanency plans for children. Your expertise will be invaluable in ensuring the well-being and safety of our youth.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in trauma-focused assessments, child development, and empirically supported clinical practices.
Responsibilities:- Conduct highly specialized trauma-focused assessments to develop diagnostic impressions.
- Conduct early childhood developmental screenings and other assessments of abused and neglected children.
- Assess youth to inform recommendations for treatment, including the appropriate level of care.
- Determine the level of substance abuse intervention required through diagnostic assessments.
- Evaluate parenting capacity and determine necessary interventions.
- Assess interpersonal violence and provide recommendations for interventions as needed.
- Write comprehensive forensic reports, integrating assessment information, case file review, and documentation.
- Complete clinical documentation and share with relevant entities and supervisors.
- Lead IDCFS clinical meetings, such as family meetings, report staffing, priority clinical staffing, and CIPP meetings.
- Current Illinois LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
- Masters Degree from a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, counseling).
- Three years of relevant clinical experience.
- A working knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria.
- Knowledge of empirically supported clinical practices.
- Understanding of social, emotional, and physical development across the lifespan.
- Ability to make risk determinations for self-harm or violence.
Estimated Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year
