Description:

The Early Head Start Teacher is a vital member of our team at Children and Families First Delaware Inc, responsible for creating a nurturing and responsive environment for children aged 0-3 years. This role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with a co-teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom with a total of 6-8 children.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of infant-toddler development and be able to implement developmentally and linguistically appropriate experiences that cater to the unique needs of each child. They will also be responsible for collaborating with families and colleagues to achieve meaningful progress and school readiness goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement daily lesson plans and child-centered curriculum that promotes positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.
  • Provide a consistent classroom routine that is responsive to individual infants and toddlers' needs.
  • Support the social and emotional development of children, including those with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with a partner Teacher in the preparation of daily lesson plans.
  • Document children's progress and individualize curriculum using observations and anecdotal notes.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED, Infant/Toddler CDA with at least 120 training hours in Infant/Toddler content plus at least 480 hours of experience working with infant and toddlers.
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (desirable).
  • Understanding of the infant-toddler development as well as age-appropriate expectations for pro-social behaviors.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation.
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Physical exam, TB and Drug Screening and criminal background, required.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the agency's service population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Must have valid driver's license which meets the requirements of the agency's insurance carrier.
