Medical Office Coordinator

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our team at Deaconess. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facility by managing patient referrals and maintaining accurate and timely medical records.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate patient referrals by communicating with healthcare providers and patients to schedule appointments with specialists or external services.
Accurately enter and update referral information into the electronic medical records system, Epic.
Monitor the status of referrals to ensure timely completion and follow-up with providers or patients as needed.
Scan and upload medical documents, including patient charts, test results, and clinical notes, into the electronic health records (Epic) system.
Ensure that all scanned documents are categorized appropriately and stored securely for easy retrieval.
Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist in maintaining the accuracy and completeness of patient records by reviewing and verifying the scanned documents.
Provide administrative support, including answering phone calls, assisting with medical record requests, and maintaining filing systems.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Effective communication skills to interact with patients, healthcare providers, and external organizations.
Knowledge of HIPAA and medical privacy regulations.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
