ORGANIZATION:
Northwest Indiana Community Action is dedicated to empowering individuals facing financial challenges by providing essential resources and support. Our mission is to assist residents across various counties in achieving better health and nutrition.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a WIC Dietitian, focusing on outreach and recruitment of eligible participants while promoting the benefits of the WIC program.
- Collaborate with the WIC Clinical Assistant to manage client check-ins, appointment scheduling, and maintaining an accurate client database to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Conduct health assessments for all participants, accurately identifying nutrition-related risks.
- Deliver personalized nutrition counseling and referral services tailored to the needs of WIC participants.
- Advocate for breastfeeding among WIC participants, facilitating educational classes to support breastfeeding initiation and continuation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a qualified Registered Dietitian.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a focus on Nutrition, including a minimum of 9 credit hours in nutrition-related coursework.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently with a service-oriented mindset and strong attention to detail.
- Commitment to collaboration with diverse groups, including staff, volunteers, program participants, and WIC Program advocates.
