Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Facilities Custodian to join our dedicated team.

Position Type: Full-time

Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Compensation: $17.53 per hour, with an additional $1.00 per hour for night shifts.

Location: Main Campus

Job Responsibilities

The Facilities Custodian is responsible for executing a comprehensive cleaning strategy to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This role includes a variety of tasks, such as:

  • Performing routine and specialized cleaning duties as per established guidelines.
  • Assisting with emergency clean-up operations, including snow and ice removal, and responding to water or fire damage.
  • Supporting special events as needed.

The Custodian is expected to manage up to 28,000-35,000 square feet of space within an eight-hour workday, utilizing standard tools and adhering to safety protocols.

Work Relationships

The Facilities Custodian will report directly to one of the Custodial Supervisors and may also interact with the Night Operations Manager depending on the assigned shift. This position requires collaboration with other custodial staff and may involve responding to urgent requests from various department managers.

As a representative of the department, the Custodian is expected to maintain professionalism and stay informed about departmental policies and procedures. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to accommodate unexpected situations.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED is preferred.
  • At least one year of custodial experience is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license from Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia is required.
  • Basic proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to communicate custodial and maintenance issues effectively to supervisors.

The selected candidate will be required to complete a training program in building cleaning after hire.
