Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer will support pre-sale technical activities and post-sale detailed engineering for assigned opportunities. This role will develop technical solutions for Westerman-s customers and lead technical representation for proposals/quotes and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate customer-supplied data to extract requirements impacting designs and end products for quoting and detailed engineering
Engage with external customers, project managers, and commercial teams to discuss scope of supply gaps compared to customer requirements
Pursue scope change identification and escalate to project managers or commercial leads for consideration
Develop P&ID-s from scratch or via redlining of existing to communicate project requirements to estimators and designers
Perform equipment sizing calculations using process simulation software and in-house developed spreadsheets
Review and approve 3D models and drawings for assigned projects
Perform process design calculations for control valves, pressure regulators, and pressure safety valves
Requirements
Bachelor-s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar capacity in a manufacturing environment with engineered-to-order products
Knowledge of ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI, and other standards
Experience in applying NFPA requirements for electrical area classification to designs
Experience specifying and designing process control systems
In-depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards for Oil & Gas process equipment design and fabrication
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and managing work against safety, quality, cost, and time constraints
Ability to develop process equipment schemes and layouts considering operability, maintenance, and safety
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Software proficiency in Microsoft Office and ProMax and Codeware COMPRESS

Must be able to walk over both even and uneven surfaces
Must be able to travel by car and airplane to other facilities if needed
Driving is an essential function of this position; clean driving record is required
