Position Overview:

The Advanced Practice RN I role is designed for dedicated professionals who are committed to enhancing the health and independence of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.


Work Environment:

This position is situated within state-supported living centers that cater to individuals who are medically fragile or exhibit behavioral challenges. These centers are strategically located across the state, providing essential services and support.

Role Responsibilities:

The Advanced Practice RN operates under the guidance of the Medical Director, providing advanced clinical care. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments and developing comprehensive care plans.
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver quality patient care.
  • Monitoring patient progress and recommending improvements in treatment protocols.
  • Administering care to employees injured during their work duties.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Medical Director or Facility Director.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • In-depth knowledge of general medicine and nursing practices.
  • Expertise in medical evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting laboratory results and imaging.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and document patient care.
  • Capability to work autonomously while being an integral part of a healthcare team.

Licensure Requirements:

Applicants must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in Texas or a state with reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact. Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing is also required, along with a current DEA registration and National Provider Identifier (NPI).


Qualifications:

Successful candidates will have graduated from an accredited advanced practice nursing program with a master's degree or higher, possess clinical nursing experience, and have experience in supervising or leading healthcare teams.


Additional Information:

All applicants must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening. Flexibility in work hours is essential, as this role may require overtime, weekend, and holiday shifts.
