The state-supported living centers cater to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, particularly those who are medically vulnerable or exhibit behavioral challenges. These centers provide comprehensive, campus-based services across 13 locations statewide.

Key Responsibilities:
The Advanced Practice RN is appointed by the Medical Director, with the SSLC Director's endorsement. You will deliver advanced clinical medical care under physician supervision, encompassing the assessment, planning, and provision of thorough patient care, either independently or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Your duties will include directing medical activities, monitoring patient trends, and recommending enhancements to care practices. You will also provide treatment to employees injured during their work duties.
Additional responsibilities include performing tasks assigned by the Medical Director or Facility Director, which may involve planning, delegating, and supervising the work of others. This role allows for considerable independence and initiative, working under minimal supervision while adhering to clinical and administrative oversight.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
To excel in this position, you should possess:
- Knowledge of general medicine/nursing methods and public health regulations.
- Expertise in medical evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment methodologies.
- Ability to develop, implement, and document individualized care plans.
- Skills in interpreting laboratory results and diagnostic imaging.
- Capability to assess and treat both physical and mental health disorders.
- Strong communication skills for clear interaction with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Experience in supervising medical staff and collaborating effectively within a healthcare team.
Licensure Requirements:
Applicants must be a registered nurse in Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact. Certification as an advanced practice registered nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing is required, along with the ability to obtain a current registration certificate from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and a National Provider Identifier (NPI#).
Initial Selection Criteria:
Successful candidates will have graduated from an accredited advanced practice registered nursing program with a master's degree or higher, possess clinical nursing experience, and have experience in supervising or leading others.
Additional Information:
