Position Summary:
The selected candidate will join Tetra Tech's Environmental Government Services cultural resource team, engaging in a range of fieldwork, administrative duties, and project management activities to support various Federal contracts.
This role necessitates U.S. citizenship due to the nature of the projects involved.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading the development of work plans, technical reports, and letter reports, ensuring the precision of site documentation and data collection.
- Collaborating closely with Department of Defense (DoD) contacts, land management agencies, and subcontractors.
- Engaging with Native American Tribes and Cultural Specialists to document sites of cultural or spiritual importance.
- Facilitating Section 106 consultations with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs), Tribal Historic Preservation Offices (THPOs), and other relevant stakeholders.
- Overseeing the daily activities of crew chiefs, field directors, and field teams while maintaining communication with project managers.
- Providing technical support and expertise to team members in their respective roles.
- Coordinating technical staff, including field directors and crew chiefs, to ensure task completion, with potential responsibilities as a field director.
- Assisting in the training and mentoring of cultural resource personnel on topics such as the Section 106 process, historic context development, site eligibility evaluation, and site documentation protocols.
- Managing and tracking field schedules effectively.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master's Degree in Anthropology or Archaeology, with a focus on North American Archaeology.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in archaeological practice, particularly within the Great Plains, Intermountain West, and Pacific Coast regions.
- Compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines for Archaeology and Historic Preservation.
- Current or potential eligibility for Principal Investigator permits for survey and excavation in relevant states.
- The ability to work outdoors in challenging conditions, including extreme temperatures and rugged terrain, with a willingness to undertake field sessions lasting up to two weeks.
- A readiness to travel regionally and nationally for fieldwork assignments.
- Proficiency in ESRI software, including Survey123, FieldMaps, and ArcPro.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NRHP and NEPA regulations.
- Experience in other U.S. regions is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to produce work plans, management summaries, technical reports, and NEPA cultural sections.
- A proven track record of Section 106 consultations with SHPOs, THPOs, and government entities.
- Experience managing large-scale projects, with a history of overseeing survey, evaluative testing, data recovery, and monitoring activities.
- Direct experience with DoD clients, especially the Air Force, is highly desirable.
- Previous collaboration with SHPOs in various states is preferred.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $91,500 - $120,640, commensurate with experience.
