Biomedical Technologist II

At The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Technologist II to join our team. This role is responsible for providing safety checks, repairs, and preventive maintenance to patient monitoring systems, EKG machines, electrosurgical units, defibrillators, electronic thermometers, incubators, and other biomedical instruments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance, electrical safety, and function testing to department protocols per department schedule.
  • Follow all preventive maintenance procedures as documented on the PM work order or in the manufacturer's service manual if referenced.
  • Repair defective equipment to meet manufacturer's specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment in a methodical and well-thought fashion.
  • Use tools, test equipment, service literature, and information from the user to determine problems.
  • Consult with vendor or other technicians when necessary to assist with the identification of problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
  • Closes all completed work orders by the last day of the month.
  • Ensures accuracy of clinical equipment inventories.
  • Documents all information accurately when new equipment is received.
  • Provides supervisor with information on equipment status change within three days of discovery.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Associate's Degree Biomedical Equipment Technology (BMET), Electronic Engineering Technician (EET) Preferred
  • At least two (2) years related experience and/or training
  • At least two (2) years of hospital setting Preferred
