OVERVIEW:

The Cafe Service Specialist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional food and beverage experiences to guests. This position may also encompass training as a Barista, ensuring that all patrons receive prompt and courteous service in the cafe or on the patio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcome and serve guests with enthusiasm and friendliness.
  • Establish rapport with guests by addressing menu inquiries and recommending beverages from the coffee and smoothie selections.
  • Process food and beverage orders accurately and relay food requests to the kitchen.
  • Prepare beverages, including coffee and smoothies, adhering to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Deliver food and beverages to guests at their tables, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Manage cash and card transactions, ensuring accuracy in charges and providing correct change.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to sanitation standards.
  • Ensure equipment is clean and operational, following usage instructions and performing preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to a supervisor.
  • Identify and communicate potential safety concerns or customer issues to a supervisor.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the resort's facilities to encourage guests to explore additional services.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One to three months of relevant experience preferred.
  • Must meet state and federal age requirements for serving alcohol, if applicable.
  • Current Food Handlers card required.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and discounts.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Capability to prepare beverages while engaging with guests and team members in a busy environment.
  • Effective communication skills for interactions with guests and team members.
  • Positive attitude and calm demeanor in a fast-paced setting.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong initiative and quick decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail in a dynamic work environment.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role typically operates in both indoor and outdoor cafe settings, utilizing computer/register and beverage equipment. Outdoor work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and navigating around guests and obstacles.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical requirements of this position include regular visual and auditory engagement, active standing and walking, and the ability to lift or push items weighing up to 20 pounds.
