Amentum is actively seeking a GSE Maintenance Specialist to join our dedicated team.
The GSE Maintenance Specialist is responsible for diagnosing issues and performing repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This role includes mentoring junior technicians on troubleshooting and resolving simpler maintenance challenges, as well as inspecting and approving completed maintenance tasks. The specialist will utilize technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to address repair issues, and will employ automated maintenance data systems to track maintenance trends, analyze equipment needs, and maintain accurate equipment records.
This position involves maintaining external fuel and grounding systems, executing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, and conducting inspections and tests to ensure equipment functionality and serviceability. The specialist will service equipment with necessary fluids and diagnose mechanical and electronic circuit issues using both visual assessments and specialized testing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
The GSE Maintenance Specialist will:
- Disassemble and reassemble malfunctioning GSE components and accessories.
- Remove, repair, clean, and treat GSE parts for corrosion, followed by reinstallation.
- Label and stencil GSE in accordance with technical guidelines.
- Manage the proper storage, handling, and disposal of materials and waste, adhering to environmental regulations.
- Prepare GSE for storage and deployment, and maintain GSE towing vehicles.
- Keep detailed records of vehicle maintenance and updates in both paper and electronic formats.
- Provide dispatch services for GSE to support aircraft maintenance operations.
- Uphold safety standards, tool control, and cleanliness in the work environment.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
In this role, the employee will frequently stand, use hands for various tasks, and communicate effectively. The position requires walking, reaching, and occasionally sitting or climbing. The employee must be capable of lifting and moving weights up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, hot and humid conditions, and potential electrical hazards is common. The noise level may be high, and the employee must be prepared to address safety concerns and provide feedback on operational issues.
Successful candidates may need to obtain a Security Clearance and could be required to travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience with GSE or similar equipment.
- Familiarity with FRC rework procedures and technical publications.
- Experience in diesel and electrical mechanics.
- Knowledge of Ground Operations Procedures (GOP) for Depot Level FRC ASE.
- Proficiency in using specialized tools and equipment for assigned tasks.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Preemployment drug screening is mandatory.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to communicate effectively in English.
- Experience or training in inspection, maintenance, and repair of various ground support equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
