Substitute School Bus Operator

A Substitute School Bus Operator is required to assist in transporting students safely to and from educational institutions. This role may include the opportunity to manage a dedicated route.
Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 21 years old.
Licensing: A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Student and Passenger Endorsements is mandatory.
Training: Complimentary training for obtaining CDL and endorsements is provided.
Background Check: All applicants must successfully pass a background investigation.
Essential Qualifications:
- Completion of a 3-Day Safety Course (at no cost)
- Entry-Level Driver Training (provided free of charge)
- DOT Physical Examination (reimbursement may be available)
- Successful completion of the CDL B examination with Passenger and Student Endorsements at the DMV (reimbursement may be available)
- Passing of the final Driving/Pre-Trip Skills assessment (reimbursement may be available)
Compensation: Pay is determined based on the specific route assigned.
Work Schedule: This position operates on an 'On Call' basis, with opportunities for field trips and sports events.
Job Responsibilities: The primary duty involves the safe transportation of students ranging from Preschool to 12th grade, including those with special needs (operating wheelchair lifts and securing devices). Drivers must be capable of navigating in various weather conditions and during nighttime hours. Additionally, candidates must be able to meet the requirements of Public Law 54, which includes the ability to ascend and descend the bus stairs within a specified timeframe, exit the bus efficiently, and manage multiple controls while driving.
